Muddy trails did not dampen spirits, but certainly added to the final-day drama on Stage 5 of the 2026 Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer, presented by Biogen. The early hours of Saturday, 26 September, brought steady drizzle and the risk of already swollen rivers flooding. Fortunately, a window in the weather opened just before the…
For the fourth stage in a row, Samantha Sanders and Sarah Maré rode home victorious in the UCI Women’s competition at the 2026 Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer, presented by Biogen. Friday, 25 September, was in many ways much like the preceding days for the Efficient Infiniti Insure pairing, as they softened up their rivals,…
The mid-point of the 2026 Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer, presented by Biogen, was crossed somewhere in the wilderness of Kapteinskloof, on the 92-kilometre route from Louvain to Langenhoven Gimnasium on Thursday, 24 September. Fittingly for Heritage Day, the South African marathon champion, Marc Pritzen, and the former South African marathon champion, Samantha Sanders, ended…
Stage 2 of the 2026 Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer, presented by Biogen, came down to a sprint finish on Wednesday, 23 September. Taking place from the 19th to the 24th of…

In 2026, the weather gods smiled upon the 250 mountain bikers gathered in the Tsitsikamma, producing three days with 20-degree Celsius highs and hardly…
The fourth edition of the Glacier Waterberg Traverse will blend spectacular mountain biking, competition for the competitive, social riding for the social riders, and superb off-the-bike hospitality in a bucket list weekend in Summerplace Game Reserve. Entries to the 2027 event, which takes place from the 7th to the 9th of May next year, opened…
The 2026 Garden Route Giro was praised as a stellar first edition. A gravel stage race where the racing thrilled, and every rider was treated to six days of ever-changing scenery, proper gravel, and the terrain upon which to write their narratives. To build a tale of adventure and endurance, of personal highs, moments of…
After extensive consultation with the relevant authorities, route inspections, landowners and our title sponsor, 36ONE Asset Management, Dryland Event Management has taken the extremely difficult decision to cancel the 2026 edition of The 36ONE MTB Challenge scheduled for 22 May 2026. The unprecedented flooding, infrastructure destruction and ongoing severe weather conditions across the Klein Karoo…
