Dryland Event Management is proud to announce that Anderson Transport and General Tire have extended their partnership. The transport firm has renewed their long-term relationship, with the aim of further developing women’s mountain biking in particular. While the locally produced Brand of Continental Tyre SA, will continue to showcase their robust and durable General Tires on Dryland’s fleet of hardworking Toyota Hilux bakkies.
“Given that we’ve been unable to stage many of the events we had scheduled for 2020 due to Covid-19 we are honoured by the continued support of all our partners in general and by Anderson Transport and General Tire in particular” Henco Rademeyer of Dryland Event Management stated. “Anderson Transport has been one of our partners for six years now and we’ve built up a superb working relationship over the years. Heimer Anderson and his team are avid mountain bikers themselves, which of course makes working with them even more of a pleasure. I know I speak for Anderson Transport as well as Dryland Event Management when I say that their collaboration and commitment to growing elite women’s mountain bike stage racing has been one of the highlights over the last six years. Without their support, the Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen, would not attract the stellar field of world-class international women that it does.”
“Women have always taken the back seat to men in sport, this needs to change. We saw the Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen as a good platform for us to start this necessary change” Heimer Anderson, Managing Director of Anderson Transport, revealed. “Equal or even more effort requires the same reward. The sponsorship of elite women is also a tribute to the hundreds of mothers and wives staying at home, while we men do what we love – cycling. We recognise that cycling is still a male dominated sport and that for many of my fellow men to participate, in as many events as we do, our wives and partners have to pick up the slack at home.”
“Our partnership with Dryland Event Management fits like a glove” Anderson continued. “We both strive to set the bar very high – Anderson through our service offering and motto ‘We set the standard’ and Dryland by hosting world class events. We use the Dryland events as a specialist marketing platform and get our key clients involved in the growing sport of mountain biking.”
Thanks to Anderson Transport Dryland Event Management ship nearly 90 tons of rider tents, Bedouins, catering equipment, branding and other race village infrastructure nearly 4 000-kilometres every year. The organisation’s largest event, logistically, is the Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen. It requires two Anderson Transport interlink tucks to make two round trips each, from Oudtshoorn to Kaleo in the Koue Bokkeveld, to set up the event. Anderson Transport’s dynamism as well as their three decades’ worth of experience, in the transport industry, ensure that these tasks are carried out with ease.
On event, the support of General Tire facilitates much of what Dryland Event Management does. “Having all our Klein Karoo Toyota Hilux bakkies fitted with General Grabber X3 tyres certainly takes the stress out of our off-road driving” Rademeyer praised. “Be it for setting up a water point in the Kammanassie Mountains or for doing a route recce in the Tsitsikamma Forest they handle the rugged and muddy terrain equally well. We are therefore excited to continue our partnership with Continental Tyre SA and their General Tire brand.”
“A few years back, the local Continental bicycle tyre distributor at the time, Interac SA, were a partner of Dryland Event Management. Through this partnership, Continental Tyre SA, were invited to participate alongside their two-wheel division and extend the partnership into the vehicle tyre category” Ryan Visagie, Product Communications Manager Continental Tyre SA, explained. “With Continental Tyre’s highly regarded General Tire Brand being locally produced, it made perfect sense to use these tyres on the 4×4 vehicles within the Dryland fleet.”
“Dryland’s Toyota Hilux’s are equipped with either the Grabber AT3 or the Grabber X3 tyres” he elaborated. “The Grabber AT3 is a 50/50 2-ply all-terrain tyre, offering the best in tar road (50%) and off-road (50%) driving performance and was the overall winner of SA4x4 Magazine’s 2018 ‘Giant All-Terrain Test’. The Grabber X3 meanwhile is a tyre built to withstand the toughest of tests and when it comes to exploring new terrain and route marking, it can take the unexpected in its stride.”
“We have been astonished to witness just how well our General Grabbers have performed with the high demands placed on them by the team at Dryland Event Management,” Visagie said. “It is encouraging to us that our product can perform at the highest level of expectation. The Dryland team operate at the very top of their game and we have realised how important it is for them to have a tyre fitted that will not let them down. We are proud of what our General Tire Brand has achieved together with Dryland, as we have seen first-hand what it takes to run a top MTB or trail running event, where hundreds of competitors are relying on you for their safety and for an unforgettable experience.”
